Force sync when no sync provided

I just bought Paddy’s Bodhran vst but, it does not have a sync function. It runs in Kontact. I want to use it with a pattern playing guitar. Is there a way (possibly using a script?) to force sync with the strumming guitar?

It appears that the internal patterns have no stop/stop or sync controls so my best guess is you will need to create your steps with a step sequencer plugin that has a sync capability and then drive the individual notes to the Bodran vst. To me not having a sync function for this plugin is a major oversight.

What do you mean by sync?
Tempo or Start/Stop?

I agree. I have been in touch with the developer/salesman (no sure which) and he says that it does sync, but it certainly won’t for me.

Tempo. I am trying to get the bodhram to play in time with a strummer guitar and banjo. The sync doesn’t seem to work.

Other libraries in Kontakt do sync and this one not?

I just heard back from the developer.

(From the manual) “The loops were recorded free time, without a click, the tempos vary just like a live performance and there is no tempo sync/lock feature”

So it looks like the sync may be happening but the tempo drift is built in to the recorded patterns.

The vst does have a sequencer that can be programmed, but then it would need some experience in playing skill to make it sound authentic.

This goes back to my original idea to use a VST sequencer that can maintain sync with and external source and then program the sequencer to send individual notes to the plugin based on the external clock driving the timing of the sequencer. Sad situation. Maybe there are other sample packs out there that you can drive with VST based sequencer.

Thanks for the helpful thoughts Steve. The developer had me carry out an experiments

I heard back from the developer again and he had me carry out an experiment. I adjusted the tempo and the number updated in Kontact, but the vst never changed its speed. It sounds like a bug to me. Anyway, I emailed back the results earlier today and am awaiting a response.

Problem solved. The vst has a built in sequencer which CAN BE SYNCED, plus a set of pre-recorded patterns which CAN’T be synced. My misunderstanding here. I was trying to use the pre-recorded patterns.
