Fix Mac mini set up for Live Performance

Hey GigPerformers,

First of all, sorry if I make mistakes my English is a little bit rosty

so I’m looking for a good working Mac mini configuration for life performance. I did all my live sessions with the last Intel Mac book pro, 16GB ram and 512 SSD + an external SSD. This works ok - sometimes I heard some digital shit, but we play metal - so this was exactly what I want

Do you guys use a m1,m2, …. Or whatever? My budget is just 300/500€ maybe you could give me cool informations to what I have to know before a “buy” on a “used market” like “Kleinanzeigen” in Germany

Thanks

Are you looking for a backup?

You can also get yourself a refurbished Mac.

thanks for your answer!

I‘m looking for a „new“ fix standard setup in my Gig-Case.

Hi schreihals,

My recommendation: Get the best and fastest Mac mini that works with your budget and for the material you are performing. I wouldn’t go for a M1, since they started to get slower with the latest system update. As far as I heard, there wasn’t a big jump from M2 to M3. M4s are fantastic.
And even the cheapest of these eat the M1.
I would also try to get as much RAM and internal storage as possible, since you can’t change that after buying.
Check out the performance charts at Geekbench.com

For live and studio work I am currently using a maxed out Mac mini M4 (64 GB, 4TB). With an external 8TB drive for sample libraries. Gigperformer purrs like a cat (Schnurrt wie eine Katze) on this.
