I share the first performance I did in a REM tribute band with GiG. I don’t think it would have been possible without this program, for me who didn’t have enough budget to be able to buy hardware it was a great opportunity. In the beginning I only had a KeyLab61 with the V Collection and other plugins that I bought over time. The only investment I made was the NumaXPiano 88 . I chose it because I needed a stage piano, and i love the Fatar feeling and for another reason it has an internal sound card that allows you to use GiG and Numa X sounds together. So I avoided having an additional external card (I was using a Motu M2 before).
Everything went well, I love GiG, the unlimited possibilities to configure MIDI and VST, the OSC protocol , everything you need at your fingertips. And I am not forget about the possibility to program in GPScript and to develope extensions with the SDK. I thank this community for the advice received, for every question I always found someone ready to help me. I will try with my abilities to help this community and recommend the use of this program!
This is my configuration, I tried to make it as simple as possible to stay focused on perfomance
- Numa X Piano 88
- Sustain pedal ( Numa )
- Expression pedal ( Moog )
- M-VAVE Chocolate portable midi pedal ( Custom message to change variation with C-D pedal and Panic function with A pedal)
- Samsung 9 tablet with TouchOSC
- Intel Core i9-12900H laptop,Ram 16 GB DDR5, 1024 GB SSD, GeForce RTX 4060 8 GB, Windows 11 Home
I have a rackspace template where I control the VST section ( open/close/bypass) - useful only during sound design
In the middle the sound controls section (Midi Filter) . I replicated the Numa X piano controls with the Zones . Some zones can be enabled only VST , or internal sounds , or mixed with each other
In the right panel Volume control , Pan , EQ parameters of the channel strip FrankCS (Analog Obsession)
In general, each Rackspace is managed in this way
In the Global rackspace panel there are the controls for Mastering chain
EQ 80-16Khz ( fixed ) PRO Q3 -FabFilter
S1 Imager Stereo Wave
Wave limiter ( usually disabled )
AR TG Mastering Live Wave
