Feature request for streaming audio file player - Load files from folder

I’m using a bunch of streaming audio file players to load my live backing tracks; one for each instrument (one for synths, one for percussion, etc), so that I can mix them in GP, or turn off certain ones if we don’t need them for a gig, etc.

So I’m having to set up and manually load a big load of files, and I was thinking that maybe in a future version it could be possible to just point each SAFP block to a folder and have it dynamically load all files in the folder at startup? That way I can have a folder for each instrument and just throw audio files in there, and then have it load them for me.

There might be challenges here that I’m not considering, but I figured it was at least worth asking

When you load files into SAFP and save the gig and reload the gig, the files are loaded automatically.

Why do you need to load all files in a folder automatically at startup?

Basically because it will save me a lot of dragging and dropping every time we add a new song to the reportoire.

Like I said, not a big thing, but maybe more people than me would like this, and maybe it’s a simple feature to add. So I thought I’d mention it.

Understand, but this is the only way right now.

But won’t you just need to drag/drop a single file (the new song) into an existing SAFP instance? That doesn’t seem like “a lot of dragging and dropping”

Like I said, I have 15 synced SAFP blocks running at the same time so that I can mix our backing tracks as needed (to adjust levels, and to turn on and off certain instruments depending on what our lineup is for the rehearsal/gig). So it’s a lot of dragging and dropping.

It’s not a dealbreaker for using GP at all, just something that would improve the workflow for me and possibly others.

I am doing something similar which might help you and do what you are asking. I also have individual backing tracks for each part for each song we do and have GP mix them. For each song I have a new Rackspace with one instance of SAFP for the click track which gets routed to our IEMs, then one or more AFP (set to multi, loop off, sync on) which has eight channels, one for each part. I also have one instance of MFP for MIDI files that sync our light show to the click track. If you need more than eight channels, you can load another instance of AFP. I then put a toggle widget on the mute of each track in the AFP instance and can mute/unmute the tracks I need as needed. At the beginning of each rehearsal or concert I go through the Rackspace of each song we are doing, set which tracks I need muted or unmuted, then save it for each Rackspace and it’ll be ready for the setlist.

Once you have the backing tracks in the song’s Rackspace via AFP and add the widgets it’ll load each time for you.

I hope this helps.
