Error writing to file
An error occurred trying to save
could not write to the file
Win 10
GP4
All my gigs saved on desktop
File was created with GP3
Only happens with GP4
File size 6.8mb

Any ideas what’s causing this?
Will save file eventually

These are typically file system errors or security application permissions.

Saving same gigfile in gp3 takes less than second with no errors on any of my pc,s
No errors with gp3

Saving same gig-file in gp4 takes 1 to 1 1/2 minutes when it eventually saves with no errors
It does the same across all my windows pcs
3 different pcs with 3 different editions of windows on.

How big is your GP4 file?

6.8 mb not big

And save as takes long time too?

Do you have an Anti-Virus application installed? This sounds like some real-time file checking going on

No anti virus
no firewall
No internet

On one of my pcs
And still does it

1 to 1 1/2 minutes only in GP4 to save eventually

There are only few possibilities unless you have a LOT of plugins, but you said that the file size was only 7mb or so…

  1. There’s something wrong with your file system
  2. You have a third party software interfering with the save operation
  3. A plugin you included takes a long time to prepare its state so we can save it.

So the first question is - if you create a new gig file, don’t include any third party plugins - how long does it take to save the gig file?

Changed permissions on user folder for saving on desktop.
Saving still slow but no errors now
