Edward posted on Gig Performer FB group: “Thank God for Rig Manager!”

PC based, I experimented with Forte years ago. Eventually I incorporated it into a sort of hybrid hardware/software rig. Battled with it from day one though… round about, complicated ways of doing what I thought were simple, obvious things a live player needs. Was certainly frustrating at times. When Forte went defunct (around 2018 I think), the software became very unstable with my updated Windows.
So… around 6 years ago I made the decision to completely rebuild my rig and go 100% controller/virtual instruments with Gig Performer. It was a game changer.
Live performance-wise… I mostly perform theater and festival shows with different tribute and “themed” acts these days. Occasional private functions. And a handful of local club/restaurant gigs, maybe two or three times a month.

Q/A:
Q: How you integrate your Yamaha CP 88?
A: That is not my CP88. That photo was from a fly date. My tech/backline rider specifies “professional/modern weighted 88 note keyboard (Yamaha, Korg, Nord, etc)”.
I showed up to soundcheck and the CP88 was parked there. I travel with a little slider/buttons/knobs midi controller (parked near lower octave in that pic) and use that to control volumes, transitions and setlist changes. Keyboard is only for sending note, modulation and sustain MIDI info.
So… no sounds are ever generated using whatever hardware keys controller I’m using.
