Drop outs and sustained notes

Hello there,

I’m experiencing some performance issues with sustained notes in my setup, and I’m hoping someone here can help troubleshoot. Here’s my current setup:

  • DAW: Gig Performer 5
  • Plugins: Arturia Analog Lab, Kontakt (Session Brass), Roland Cloud SRX Strings
  • System: MacOS Velvet

Despite having a relatively light setup, I’m noticing problems with sustained notes, particularly with Roland SRX Strings, but it seems to affect all plugins intermittently. My Mac’s resources (CPU, RAM) seem fine, and I’ve tried increasing the buffer size, adjusting sample rates, and optimizing plugin settings without success.

Has anyone else encountered similar issues, or does anyone have suggestions for further troubleshooting steps?

What controller are you using?
What midi messages are shown in the global midi monitor window when you face hanging notes?

Is this a new setup or one that you’ve been using for a longer time, but now suddenly doesn’t work?

This is a new setup I just got another Mac and installed gp5

You still have the previous setup? If that’s working fine I would suggest you use that tomorrow to buy time to investigate the issues you have with the new setup.

(I’m not able to help you cause I use Windows, but others who can, will probably need the following info)

  • What are the specs?
  • Apple silicon or Intel?
  • VST or another plugin type?

With Apple silicon there’s also something with native vs. Rosetta.

  • Did you try to remove all plugins and adding them one by one to isolate a potential suspect?

Edit: “remove all plugins”: I mean from the gig file. Not necessarily from you computer.

How about the specs of your computer?

Is this an older Mac? If it came with Ventura, it can’t be recent vintage? At what speed does it run and how much RAM is in it?

Do these drop outs and sustained notes happen with all three of your controllers or with just one of them?
