Dedicated MIDI controller

Hi all, not a GP question per se but more of a general “playability” question. I’m currently using my Nord Stage classic 88 as a midi controller for GP. I’m thinking of getting a Studiologic sl 88 Studio for my bottom board, running GP, and an electro 5D for the top. My question is; will a dedicated MIDI controller give me a better experience using VST’s than my Nord Stage 88. I’m thinking mostly with pianos, as organs and synths play fine with the stage.
Thanks in advance for any input you can give!

A dedicated MIDI controller tends to have more, well, MIDI controls but it depends on the keyboard. For example, the Korg Kronos, my all-time favorite workstation/multi-timbral synth has superb MIDI control functionality as well with a complete set of sliders, dials and buttons that send out MIDI. I don’t know enough about the Stage Classic to compare.

These days, I don’t use any onboard synths (I’ve stopped taking my Kronos on tours) and I just carry multiple MIDI controllers (including that StudioLogic 88, by the way, it’s quite nice and not heavy!) and I do everything in GP

Thanks for the response. I’ve actually started using my ipad along with Mididesigner Pro to map out controls so I’m not really using any of the Nord buttons, dials, etc as controls. I’m glad to hear a thumbs up on the Studiologic.
