'Curve' for a modulation wheel?

To prevent taking my hands from the keyboard, I use two switches of my MIDI foot pedal to apply the modulation wheel value (max, +127).

However, for some sounds, full modulation is too much and I would like to scale it (like the curve for widgets). However, afaik I cannot bind a widget to the modulation wheel. I prefer not to bind it to some actual modulation wheel value inside a VST plugin as they are different for each VST, and also I sometimes/regularly stack sounds and mostly can apply the modulation wheel to all at once.

Is there a way to accomplish this? (Maybe with a scriptlet)

I was able to bind the mod wheel of my midi controller (sending CC 1) to a widget and could then scale it. You should then be able to route that to whatever VST you want

edit:

I’d imagine you could also map that widget to a midi in block and then route that block to whatever plugins you want to use it on. If you wanted to have some be scaled and some full range, you could do a midi in block for each widget and route them accordingly

Thank you very much … it took a bit of time before I noticed I can bind a widget to any CC value (thus 1 too ).

Like GigPerformer more and more … so much flexibility in details (which can be important), even compared to the Korg Kronos which also is quite a flexible synthesizer.

You’re welcome! It’s definitely a huge step up in usability from the Kronos. I’m very quick in programming the Kronos, but it’s still light years away from GP in how quickly you can put some complicated sounds together. And routing that is not possible with the Kronos without some sort of limitation or workaround.

Check out Rig Manager also. You can create an alias for the mod wheel and map your keyboard to that. Then you can just select the alias in the widget properties instead of having to remember the CC or learn each time. If you change your midi controller, you can have a separate Rig setup for that one that is already pointed to your alias. It’s a huge time saver when you need to switch out hardware, or just want a simple name for things like pedals, knobs and sliders that you might also use regularly

I already use the aliases in the Rig manager for the knobs and faders of my MIDI keyboard, and also for the expression pedals and switches from my Behringer FCB1010. But indeed, adding the mod wheel I also should add.

So far, creating songs is very time consuming, more than on the Korg, but the main reason is that I have to find ‘good’ combinations of plugins for sounds, as every VST plugin is new for me … but it’s also nice to find new (and better) sounds than on the Kronos.

I definitely understand how you can get lost in the much larger and much better sounding choices for creating patches. I decided to focus on my most used sounds for now since I’m still running a hybrid setup with my Kronos when playing live. These dozen or so sounds gives me a set of restrictions that make it easier to add to my live setup.

Moving slowly to a software synth solution is easier of course. However, I prefer not to drag along both a Kronos and soft synth setup.

My Kronos is 10+ years old, and although most Korg synths are very reliable, I don’t want the risk of not being one available when it would break down (or having to buy an expensive second hand Kronos as they are not made anymore).

That is definitely a very good reason to do so. Please feel free to reach out to this amazing community for any questions. As a long time user of your invaluable Kronos utilities, I’d be happy to help out in any way to return the favor by helping out in any way I can.

I’m glad you like PCG Tools.

Thank you very much … I already asked a lot of questions, but I probably will still have a lot in the upcoming months
