Cross platform rig mgr question

Hello!
I use both pc and Mac platforms.
I primarily create my songs on my mac but when I transfer them to the pc my main midi controller (m-audio oxygen pro 61) has a different ID on the PC so I have to change the midi input on everything.

Is this something that rig mage could help with?

If so is there a Rig Manager for Dummies guide? Because I tried all morning to figure it out with no luck.

Thanks in advance!

The idea with Rig Manager is to associate the controller with an alias and in your rackspaces you use the alias for the MIDI blocks. In this example I’ve given the Actition MIDI controller the alias ‘ControllerAlias’ and that’s what I use for my MIDI In block.

That way, if you have to switch controllers for any reason, you only have to associate the new controller with that alias in Rig Manager. The wiring remains the same.

Here I am associating the Keystation 61es with that same alias. I don’t have to change any wiring, just that one-time switch in the Rig Manager.

Thank you.
So if I’m getting this right, I need to create a rig that uses the alias midi blocks from the start?

I think the controller blocks you already have in wiring view will change to the alias name automatically once you define it in Rig Manager.

Not sure if I did it exactly right but the alias I assigned is now available as a midi block so I switched them over and it worked!

I should just use the alias block going forward?

Thank you very much. I officially jumped ship from another live DAW I had been using for 8 years this morning after yet another FUBAR event.

So far so good. 30 more songs to build!!!

Yes, just use those alias blocks for every controller you assign an alias for. Like I said above, if you ever have to use different controllers you just assign the new controllers to the respective aliases you’ve already set up in Rig Manager and voila!

You made the right choice.
