Hi, I’m a longtime gig performer and Windows user and I’m having some startup issues with macOS.
I have an M1 Macbook Pro with Sequoia 15.0 and want to use it with a Quad Cortex as an audio interface. I want to use GP to add additional VST effects to the signal chain.
In GP5 → Options → Audio Setup… I select the Quad Cortex as input and output device.
But even with a high buffer size I hear pops without a VST being involved.
I noticed that the orange microphone icon in the menu bar flashes almost synchronously with the crackling.
Clicking on the mic icon reveals that Gig Performer is using the microphone. I can then change the MIC mode between Standard and Voice isolation. Strange…
Is the display of this orange icon normal even if I configure GP to use the audio interface instead of the internal microphone?
I have tried to deactivate the access for GigPerformer5 with SystemSettings → Privacy & Security → Microphone. After that the Mic Icon is gone but there is no more audio coming to Gig Performer.
but the problem seems to be related to the Quad Cortex. With an EVO8 Audio Interface using the same USB cable the orange Mic icon didn’t blink and there are no crackles.
But on the other hand both interfaces (EVO8 and Quad Cortex) working without problem on GP5 on Windows using the ASIO driver.
Please try to deactivate not used input channels and output channels.
So ty only to activate Input 1 and Input 2 for the Input and To Out 1 and To Out 2 for the Output Channels.
Sorry, in the meantime I have learned that the orange MIC symbol is normal for MacOS and that you have to grant audio applications access to the microphone so that they can also access core audio.
My problem with the Quad Cortex is not related to GP5. I also have the standalone Guitar Rig 7 application on the MacBook and it gives the same crackling when I select the Quad Cortex as the audio interface.
Why didn’t I think of this before?
Thanks for asking about other audio applications on the computer.
I will have a look at the Neural DSP forum. But many thanks for the help.
