Corrupted .gig file

Hi - i’ve been building songs over the past few months in GP5 using my macbook M3 pro. GP has been stable and no issues. Last night when I was making a few tweaks to various rackspaces, GP just crashed. When I try and open and load my *.gig file, it loads to 92% and then GP quits / crashes.

I’m freaking out here as I was planning to transition from Kronos to GP5 tonight at our gig, but looks like this isn’t possible.

I belevie the *gig file is corrupted as I’ve tried to load it numerous times and crashes each time when loading. I’ve opened other *.gig files and they seem to be stable, but I’ve spent literraly months building my *.gig file and now I think i’ts done unless it can be repaired.

Any ideas would be really welcome. Thanks in advance.

Are you using predictive load?

When the Mac crash message pops up, you can access the details via the Report button, copy and paste that into a text file, zip it, and upload it here. If it looks like it’s caused by a plugin, you can temporarily disable that plugin in order to load the file.

Do you use Time Machine or have another backup strategy?

Usually there is an issue with a particular plugin (or sometimes a script).

What changed before you had the issue? What plugins were open when it crashed?

If you are able to figure out the problem plugin (assuming that is the issue), there are ways to open the gig file without the problem plugin.

Thanks for the tip. I have just zip the file but i get an error saying “Sorry, new users cant upload attachments”.

Now I’m really stuck… can’t upload the file which seems a bit strange

Refresh the browser and try again to upload. I’ve amended your user status.

I do have a backup NAS but new MacBook Pro and foolishly I hadn’t set it for backups. Lesson learned.

Thanks - done. Much appreciated.

What app or file format did you use? It doesn’t appear to be a zipped text file.

take 2 - thanks

With my basic understanding of reading these reports, Analog Lab V is crashing GP.

Thread 0 Crashed:: HotFudge Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread
0 Analog Lab V 0x4f52a1128 0x4f4800000 + 11145512

If you hold SHIFT key down while starting up GP, you can deselect ‘Load last gig file’, which will open a blank file.

You can then go into Plugin Manager (Window menu), search for Analog Lab V, right-click it and set to ‘Disable’. You may have multiple entries for it if you have AU and VST3 types.

Then try opening your gig file.

Thanks for all the tips. I can open other gig files now by the SHIFT option when loading. I have disbaled the plugins that have failed via “Remove Selected Plugin From List” option, but my main gig file still will not load. It gets to around 94% then either crashes or just hangs there. Not even getting the option to view the error report. My gig gile must be corrupted somehow, It gets hung up on a song “YMCA : Analog Lab 5”. I think it’s cooked, but if any other ideas out there, then I’d love to hear from you. Thanks in advance.

Can zip and upload the gig file?

Here it is. Thx

It’s not that option. You must select ‘Disable’

Ok - thanks again. I disabed Analog Lab V in plugin and my gig file loaded  The problem I have now is that the rackspaces that use Analog Lab V show now in Red with Analog Lab V (Missing) given I have disabled it. I guess this means I need to delete Analog Lab V and reinstall it?
