Hi, I just bought GP and tbh I only get the basics. But I want to use it to basically create my own axe fx as I have no need for a hardware unit at home and I’m more than happy with plugins now I can combine them.
What midi controllers are people using? I was looking at the Morningstar stuff. I just want to have about 5/6 presets and ideal two mini foot controllers, one for wah/whammy and the other for delay mix. Any recommendations? Ease of use is high priority.
Thanks!
any controller works. if your computer can detect it, and if it has the physical controls you need (knobs, faders, buttons, etc.) then it will work for GP.
experiment first with the wiring view - placing the effect you need.
then head over to the panel edit mode, and add some widgets assigning them to the effect parameters you need.
create variations capturing different states of those widgets.
create separate rackspaces for completely different effects/sounds/setups.
you can then switch between your rackspaces and/or variations either via Program Change, or by assigning next/previous to some midi control (note, CC, etc.)
In case you’re not aware, there is an MC8 Pro that was announced and displayed at NAMM, which should be released shortly.
That said, on Morningstar’s new product releases there’s usually a lot more people trying to get orders in for the first batch than they can handle. They don’t take advance orders so it’s always a “hit refresh on the store every 10 minutes and hope you’re awake when they decide to open up ordering.” I’ll be one of those guys.
