[Cherry Audio Plugins] Best way to prevent them from updating automatically

On my last rehearsal, I was surprised to play a Cherry Audio synth plug-in that had gone mute. I was able to check that it had done an automatic update and was waiting for me to enter my password on the server before completing the installation. I may have chosen this update mode during installation, but then it was against my better judgement.

Do other users have any ideas on the best way to configure all Cherry Audio plugins correctly? Should I configure them plugin by plugin, or does the new Sync application allow me to do it all at once (I haven’t installed it yet)?

As far as these plugins (and any others for that matter) are concerned, I’d like…:

  • no connection to an Internet server
  • no automatic updates
  • no downloading of updates in the background
  • it would be nice if the default installation options didn’t activate any of the above.

Thank you for your wise advice.

I’d go with this method.

They might be also other point you may want to review (sending user experience, privacy settings, send telemetry, user experience, stats, etc).

I had the same issue and a conversation with the support of Chery Audio about 6-7 months ago.

They recommended to deactivate all license activations and activate them again in one go with the Sync app.

I never had this issue again

Edit: I have to check my update settings, I’m not sure if I changed them. But I think I switched them off as I run Sync all few weeks to get an overview about updates

Same here as @tripleB stated…
I also had experienced the “muted Cherry Audio plugins” when the were updated at some time in the background… since i use their Sync-App i didn’t face any issues any more.
I also run an update sporadically - if something has been updated, it instantly works without having to login again in the plugin.

I checked perhaps a bit quickly, but I didn’t found so much options related to an Internet connection…

I will do that, thanks.

I didn’t found a manual for the Sync app, so I will check within the app after I installed it.

Note that the “Create A Log File For Usage” option is selected by default when you install a new Cherry Audio VI. I always disable (untick) it in the General options tab along with selecting Ask Before Installing Updates in the Account tab.

Apparently just go into each plugin and click on “Never Install Updates”

I hope I will be able to dot it go all plugins using their new Sync application.

By the way, if you get in touch with them, don’t hesitate to suggest them to disable these options by default. :innocent:

Indeed, it seems that while Sync makes it possible to download, install and activate each plugin, it is not possible to define an update policy in Sync. So we still need to go in each plugin window to modify the options manually.

I have got 41 plugins window to open and configure for not updating :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

I hope Cherry Audio will change this in the future…

I have 18 Cherry Audio VIs and it was a PITA to open the standalone version of each one to disable the logging and auto updates. But 41? You have my sympathy.

Yes 20 VST and 21 VST3 :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

For others who have not yet changed these defaults for Cherry Audio VIs, change them using the standalone version of each VI. Those changes are picked up by the VST2 and VST3 plugins.

I’m kind of surprised that changes made via the plugin are not picked up by the other format of the same VI.

Do you actually have 41 different Cherry Audio VIs? If so, I had no idea they had that many. If they do, well, there goes more of my money.

I always install the VST and the VST3 version of each plugin, but still, their collection is growing:
