I’m using GP 4.5.8. I’ve got a bunch of widgets in my global rackspace which I’ve decided all need to have their “Follow Hardware” attribute turned on. They are all identical widgets except for their GPScript names and their MIDI assignments. They are all assigned to controls on my MIDI controller.
Some of them, however, have their “Follow Hardware” option grayed out so that I can’t toggle it on.
The widgets that do allow “Follow Hardware” are assigned to CC#21 through CC#28, CC#41, CC#48, and CC#49. The widgets that do not are assigned to CC#42 through CC#47.
Is there a means of turning on “Follow Hardware” for the six widgets that are currently blocking that option?
Actually, “Follow hardware” should not be an option in the global rackspace…it’s a buglet that the option isn’t grayed out,
The point if Follow Hardware is for widgets in different rackspaces to update automatically from your controller when you switch rackspaces. Since the global rackspace is always there, the feature doesn’t really make sense since a controller mapped to the global rackspace is always visible.
You’re right. I had mistakenly deduced that “follow hardware” was the answer to a problem I was working on, but of course I had fooled myself.
Incidentally, I figured out that by switching the MIDI assignment to a different CC# and then back to the one I wanted, I was able to re-enable the grayed-out options. (This is irrelevant to my issue, for the reason you stated, but might be relevant to whoever is going to debug that buglet, which appears still to exist in 4.7.)
