Calling audibles live

Band has been talking more lately about reading the room and calling audibles in performance (calling up songs or blocks of songs at will). I currently arrange sets in a linear structure. Are there others here who do audibles and if so, how do you manage them? BTW, I’m using a touch screen and a Logitech Bluetooth keyboard, so CTR-F gets it done for finding a song, but what’s the best practice for this AND getting back to your place in the setlist?

Thanks for sharing your wisdom!

Alot depends on role.

But in general have a main set of sounds on standby you can easily get to.

It might be easier to have a limited set of Rackspaces vs alot.

  1. Might be a good idea to use buttons or faders to fade in or enable sounds when you need them. Such as having everything loaded up and fading it in as you need it.

Basically instead of hyperfocused Rackspaces, focus on flexible Rackspaces that can perform many roles.
