Can anyone suggest a bass vst with real time control? I’m thinking of something similar to what an arranger keyboard does with midi or chord input to define the root, but bass only. Does anything like this exist?
I’ve never tried it but maybe http://b-step.monoplugs.com/en
Thanks for that David. I had a quick play with it but it doesn’t have its own samples. Not sure how quick it is to set up. I was hoping for something that would follow chord input but there isn’t much around. I had a thing called Broomstick Bass years ago that followed keyboard chords but it’s way out of date now and I’m pretty sure it no longer works.
Broomstick Bass is a 32-bit plugin — might work with JBridge (jBridge ( for Windows ) | J's stuff) though I have no experience with it
I’ve been reading up on Broomstick Bass. Several people have made it work using JBridge on Win 10. I gave it away to my daughter but have asked for it back. There is a demand for a VST that will produce bass lines as I have read many requests for such a VST. It’s a wonder that someone hasn’t had a go at it. The Air people that produce Strike 2 (drum vst) would be ideal candidates for such a project.
Hi,
DDMF have just brought out new bridging software - it looks quite good - its another solution to the 32/64 bit conundrum.

Just an update on Broomstick Bass. I had my daughter send me back my copy. I installed it, converted it to 64bit using JBridge and it works really well in Gig Performer. Lots of sampled basses with a good variety of bass runs plus two extra gift packs. I have been driving it through my PS3 guitar controller and it follows along nicely. Different bass runs are triggered by notes. I see it is available as a download from the Bournemark site for €49:00. I guess the manual is now a PDF but didn’t look for it. There is also a demo. Highly recommended.
