Basic Setup for Bass

I’m new to Gig Performer. I’ve been reading posts out here and watching videos to learn what I can. I’m missing something that may be fundamental.

My setup even with physical equipment is pretty basic. I use a drop pedal for a few songs, have different tone quality for some songs, have a typical setup for some songs. etc. Plus, I handle some backup vocals for songs that have their own effects.

I was hoping that I could build a single panel or rack (still learning the GP lingo so, please be patient) where I could just push a button and have it pull in the effects and tone settings for that song or group of songs. I have all of the connectivity working. MOTU 4 on my Windows 11 machine. Can I get bass and vocal effects on one screen or do I need to split them because they are two inputs?

I have figured out how to wire in effects… where I get stuck is creating specific settings that I can pull in with a single button. Keeping it simple for now, I’d like to have a button for a normal tune, a button for a tune dropped 1 full step and a tune dropped 2 full steps. I’ve set up the connection to the pitch shifter and I kind of have that working in a script… but even at this simple level, I can see that the amount of code is going to undercut the simplicity I was hoping for. (I write code for a living so that part doesn’t scare me… was just hoping GP did a lot of this for me if only I knew how to use it correctly and not hack it up with code work-arounds. )

I’d appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction. Maybe what I want isn’t possible. It would be good to know that as well.

Thanks

John

What you are asking is all achieveable but you are asking for alot of different instructions lol. Start in the manual with rackspaces, widgets, variations and set lists..

What plugin do you use? The bundled TH-U plugin also has the “transpose” feature.

You can do this by variations or setting up the radio buttons that you later MIDI learn.

What is your MIDI controller? Does it send Program Change or Control Change messages?

Thanks for your response. I’m working thru the docs.

I knew that was asking a lot when I wrote that post, but I figured better to give more information than leave the reader guessing.

Thanks for your response. I’ll look at the built in transformer.

I’m using a Motu 4 controller.
