I have used Sample Robot recently to sample some sounds form my Yamaha Motif to my Nord Stage which works well. Sample Robot has theoretically also a VST Host for 64bit compatible VST2-Instruments, but on my Mac this doesn’t work. I tried for example with Omnisphere and some other stuff and it just crashes. So I wonder if I can use the new Autosampler in GP to sample some Virtual Instruments. All I need is sending like 8 notes which cover the basic keyboard range and have the resulting audio files in 41khz 16bit stereo. I don’t need fancy stuff like samples with different velocity layers. Can I do this in GP5?
Ok, I will try. It seems that Autosampler will be Perfect for this!
That is what it’s for!
I had a bad start. I wanted to sample the virtual instrument from Rhodes. I tried VST, VST3 and Audio Unit. I created the Sample Generator und Recorder and every time when I open the Rhodes Plugin GP5 was crashing. I will try now with another virtual instrument.
Autosampler is Awesome!! I quickly retired SampleRobot,
which was noticeably quirky and clumsy compared to GP’sAutosampler. For me, I simply drag and drop the samples into Kontakt7 or Halion7, then let their auto-arrangers respectively, line up the samples .
Crash report?
Thank you for your help. Let’s leave this for maybe later. I will do a fresh install of the Rodes Plugin. Maybe this solves the problem. And I tried the Autosampler with Keyscape and everything went well. So thank you for this great tool inside GP5.
If it’s the same version, I doubt it — a crash report would be helpful so we can see if it is a GP issue or a problem with the plugin and if the latter, then we can contact the developer
I am sorry. I don’t know if the crash report is still available on my system? I reinstalled the Rhodes Plugin and now its working fine with Autosampler.
I have been using autosampler a lot recently and it is a godsend! The only time that I had a very strange problem was when I combined a synth patch with a Rockman VST Preset called Hysteria which puts a very heavy amount of compression on the sound. When I imported the samples into my Nord Stage they were sounding like out of tune. I don’t think this is a bug or error of autosampler, but has anybody here with more experience an idea what could be the problem?
OK, I have changed the title of this post. First let me say that I have nothing negative to say about Autosampler. It is amazing! The problem I have might result from my lack of experience in general with sampling. I just noticed that when I sample something and then import it for example in Arturia Pigments or in my Nord Stage 4 that the resulting instrument in many cases has lost a lot of high end (higher frequencies). A good example for this problem would be an E-Piano. So I just wonder if anybody has faced the same problem and how did you solve it. OK, I know I can apply EQ afterwards and sometimes velocity might also be an important factor, but apart from that I still wonder if I might be doing something wrong. Thank you in advance.
Is it possible that your samples are being filtered by the plugins or by the Nord ?
I did a lot of sampling with autosampler and imported the generated audio files in Kontakt.
Did not face the issue you describe
As far as I can see nothing gets filtered.
When you play the recorded samples with for example QuickTime, do they sound OK.
Did you also sample E-Pianos? Did the sampled result really sound as good as the original. I have for example the Korg Collection with the E-Piano EP-1 which I really like, but if I sample it, the sound of the resulting instrument is without doubt a little bit darker. It lacks contour if you know what I mean.
How many velocities did you sample?
They sound basically ok.
Only the highest velocity because I don’t need in most cases those nuances of velocity mapped instruments.
I am sure the root cause of the issue you describe is how you import the samples and how velocity is mapped to the specific samples in your sample player.
Did you try with Decent Sampler?
