I’m sharing a rackspace for Atomika, a fantastic little synth from Cherry Audio, that I created for my own enjoyment.
Each parameter in the Atomika VST is mapped to a corresponding widget on the front panel, closely mirroring the original synth’s layout and making it quick to save presets into variations.
On larger screens, clicking the Main View or Arp View buttons will scroll the panel to the relevant sections for easy access to those specific controls.
I tried the Cherry Audio Edition of Gig Performer when I first got it (as part of a Cherry Audio bundle). Will this Atomica Synth Rackspace work easily (without any modifications) in the Cherry Audio Edition? If so, can you please post very easy-to-follow steps (1) to get the Cherry Audio Edition up and running, (2) to download/install this Rackspace, and (3) anything else needed to know to try it without a lot of messing around? Thanks.
There is some GPscript in there that will not work, but it is not crucial to the functionality of the rackspace, so I suspect you will not miss it at all, nor notice it was supposed to be there.
Here is a short video explaining how to install Gig Performer Free from Cherry Audio, and how to download and open this rackspace.
Thanks for the video! Last night (after my post) I found a full-length video covering GP (the full version) featuring Robert St. John (from Cherry Audio). At the end he showed how to get the software (and the discount coupon) from the Cherry Audio site. Your video goes beyond that and is useful for installing and getting started with the Rackspace itself! Glad to know it should work in the Cherry Audio Edition. Looking forward to giving GP Free a try for a test performance project this summer. Thanks!
Bad News / Good News Bad: As is the Atomika Rackspace gig file doesn’t work for me. It (something called Chameleon) thinks Atomika is either missing or disabled. Bad: Using the Plugin Manager, I verified that Atomika is Enabled, but the wiring diagram still says MISSING. I tried toggling both Widget Refresh and the status (Enabled v. Disabled). Neither told GPF I had Atomika. Good: I successfully opened up a simple, basic gig file I created in Jan that has 3 channelized synths (Analog Lab, Elka-X, and Pigments) that respond to channels 1, 2, and 3 respectively. It worked. Good: I deleted Elka-X, added Atomika, connected the virtual midi and audio cables, and it worked. Good: I removed the MISSING Atomika using the Wiring View, added Atomika the same way I added it to my gig file from Jan., wired up the midi and audio and I had audio. Bad: The knobs in the Rackspace did not change the sound. Good/Bad: Selecting different presets in your Rackspace changed the knobs, but not the sound.
In sum: I was pleased to see my test gig file from Jan. worked and that I can load your gig file into the Cherry Audio Edition of GPF.
This took longer than I expected, but I am glad I took the time and hope the feedback will help you to tell me what I need to do to get the Atomika Rackspace to work.
I left out a step: After finding my three-synth gig file worked with Atomika in it, I opened your Atomika gig file. That’s when “I removed the MISSING Atomika” and inserted my working Atomika plugin.
The Chameleon is a special plugin that is a “stand-in” for missing plugins. The Chameleon retains the state of the real plugin.
You don’t mention what platform you’re running (Windows or Mac) and if the latter whether you’re on Intel or Apple Silicon and if the latter whether you were possibly loading an Intel version of the plugin.
