How many others are using the Arturia V Collection in their live set ups? For me, it is a go-to, and I wonder if others are also using it. If you are not using it, what ARE you using? Let me know!
I use it, too.
Which ones do you find yourself using the most?
For playing in a rock cover band, if I know the kind of synth which was probably used, I use this synth plugin and then the search engine with the keywords of the kind of sound I need.
If I have no idea of the synth used, I use the search engine of Analog Lab to identify the synth I am looking for. I then prefer to use the synth plugin directly rather than the equivalent Analog Lab version.
Omnisphere, TheLegend
I do and pretty much do that same thing David-san does. (The main reason to switch to underlying synth is it uses less CPU. But sometimes the additional tweakability of using the underlying synth comes into play).
I do it the same way.
However, I have found that if you look really hard, you can usually find a better sound than Aturia (e.g. Omnisphere, Korg, OP-X PRO-3). But Aturia can definitely be used as a basis.
Iām using quite a few Arturia V-collection plugins: Arp 2600, CP-70, DX7, Farfisa, Juno 6, Jupiter 8, MiniFreak, OP-Xa, Prophet 5, SQ80, Synclavier, Vox Continental, Vocoder and I also use Pigments.
Places where I have opted for something else include:
- Omnisphere when I need a synth with more expansive controller mappings to synth parameters
- IK Multimedia B3-X over Arturia B-3 V
- Lounge Lizard over Arturia Wurli V and Stage 73 V
- PianoTeq over Arturia Piano V
and then there are some specific times when I have used something else for certain cases:
- UVI Falcon for some 80s digital piano sounds
- Cherry Audio GX-80 as it had a more convenient preset than CS-80 V
- Korg MonoPoly/MS20 as it was easier to match to some old Kronos patches I was using
- Spectrasonics KeyScape simply for a different flavour of piano
- NI Massive X for certain pad sounds
- GForce Oddity for certain pad sounds
