Arturia V Collection X: DualSquare Preset missing

I recently updated to the Arturia V Collection X (Mac OS X Sonoma, M1 Mac) and it seems that the very nice Mini V Preset “DualSquare” is no longer to be found in this collection. Has anybody this Preset and is it possible to import it in the V Collection X (Mini V Version 4). I think the Preset was included in the first and second Version of the Mini V. With other words: Maybe a good soul here has still the Mini V Version 2. I. think the Version 2 definitely has this Preset. And maybe someone with Version 2 could export the Preset and send it to me? I have to admit that I am not sure if this works. I don’t know if the Presets from Version 2 are compatible with the current Version 2. Anyway thank you in advance! I know it is a little bit absurd because the Collection X has over 1000 Presets, but I haven’t found a Square Preset which has this nice smack which the “DualSquare” Prest has.

As far as I know presets from earlier Arturia synth versions are not compatible with newer versions. The same happened with the CS-80 when it was released as V4. These are not simple updates, but new emulations with different code under the hood.
It is possible to install different versions of the same synth at the same time, though. That means if you still have the Mini version with this particular preset, you can run it alongside the new version Mini V4.

Thank you for your advice. The problem is if I am not overlooking something that the old Mini V2 and V3 versions are on the Mac 32 Bit and on my system 32 Bit applications are no longer supported, only 64 Bit applications are accepted.

Have you still got the licence for the V3 of Mini? It was still part of V Collection 9 so there should be a 64bit version available. Or do I miss something?

I had a look. The Mini V3 is running in 64bit on my system, but the DualSquare is already missing in the V3. So the V2 was the last version with this Preset. I have the V2 also authorized on my system, but as I said it is only available in 32bit and so it is not running on my system.

I’ll take a look this evening. I don’t know up until which version of V Collection the Mini V2 was used, but I still have a V Collection 5 license. If I find it I could sample it with GP’s autosampler and send you the samples.
Then at least you can use this preset with a sampler. Would that be of help or would you rather like to use the MiniV itself?

Deleted.

I checked the V Collection 5 license. Unfortunately it has the MiniV3, not V2. Sorry!

Thank you for your efforts. If I would be a better tweaker I could try to get with another available square preset in that direction. I tried that, but it is too complex for me.

Isn’t there a program that lets you run 32bit vsts in 64bit environments? (jBridge…?)

The only way that I know would be maybe theoretically to install Parallels to have a 32bit Windows Emulation on a 64bit Mac, but that is too much struggle for me.

Not on a Mac any more. There used to be a program called 32 Lives that did this but recent versions of macOS don’t allow 32-bit programs at all any more.

It is not the end of the world. It was just a nice sound. I haven’t composed the next Axel F with this sound, but dear people at Arturia what if I would have…

I am wondering why you are asking this question here rather than on the Arturia forums? It’s certainly not a GP issue or bug (though it’s certainly useful for people here to be aware of the issue)

I did that and I thought that in Plugin section everything related to Plugins can be discussed. In the meantime I got an answer that the old sounds are no compatible with the newer versions of the Analog Lab Collection. So as you say at least my question can help that people are aware of this issue.

Maybe this is helpful for other people: So here is an update:
I downloaded a demo version of Metaplugin which lets you run 32 Bit and 64 Intel Plugins on a M1 Mac and I could open the Mini V2 as a 64bit VST.

But this Metaplugin is very difficult to handle. It reacts very slowly and suddenly looses its connection and things like that. It is made for effects, not for synth VSTs and the version for synths seems to be no longer available. So I think the best solution would be to find someone who could rebuild this preset for me. Does anybody here in the forum maybe know a Sound Designer who could do this? I would pay for this. I made a screenshot and I tried to rebuild the Preset by myself, but it doesn’t sound the same. And I am not experienced enough to do this. In the Arturia Forum I have been told that just copying the parameters from the old plugin to the new is not enough, the new plugin behaves differently. This is above my paygrade

Maybe you can try the other Minimoog emulations from G-Force, Cherry Audio, UA, etc. and get closer to the original preset than with the current Arturia one.

That’s also a good idea. I have the Cherry Audio emulation. I will have a look.

hello ,

I do not know if it is the exact same preset you are looking for but I remember that had converted all my V2 patches to the MINI V ver.3 a looooooong time ago and in the version MiniV3 VST I have found a preset called CE_DualSquare:

So here is it (you will have to remove the extra “.txt” as “.minix” extensions are not authorized as attachement )
Mini_Preset_CE_DualSquare_20240801_07h08.minix.txt (11.1 KB)
Unfortunately it cannot be imported in the Mini V4 which needs a “.min4x” extension and I am not aware that a converter was provided by Arturia at that time of the switch from .minix to .min4x unfortunately.

At that time I do not remember neither (I am 60 years old and have memory issues :slightly_smiling_face:) if I had used the VC4 or VC5 preset updater so I put the two zip files (only the VC5 zip contains a MAC dmg file unfortunately as I am a MS Windows user )

These executables are too “big” to be added here as attachement
=> I have put all these stuff in my PCloud so here is the link for the download which shoudl be publicly accessible (without password) for a moment :

Hope this helps. (& sorry for my bad English)
Cheers, eric

Hi Eric,
thank you very much. In the meantime a kind person in the Arturia Forum has helped me yesterday. Maybe I should have posted here that I have found a solution. I am sorry. I think he is the moderator and rebuild this preset. The thing is that according to the moderator even if I would be able to import this old preset Mini V2 with some kind of witchcraft into the Mini V4 it stil wouldn’t sound the same because they made major changes from the Mini V3 to the Mini V4. You can see that visually in the Wood Panel which has another colour and under the hood they have made changes that I don’t understand, but I have been told that they were more or less substantial. So one more time I can only current Mini V2 users should be warned that the old preset might not work anymore or some of the old V2 presets might not work anymore exactly the way you want it. I don’t know maybe it only a small percentage wich is affected and maybe Arturia have adapted a lot of old presets to the new V4 engine, but the Dual Square was not present anymore and was pretty frustrated when I tried to rebuild it with a screenshot of the V2 Version. But now everything is fine. Thank you one more time!
