Arturia V Collection upgrade preset compatibility

Hi,

I’m about to upgrade from V-Collection-8 to V-Collection-X, there is a great black Friday price $99.
However, I remember that in a past upgrade, some plugins did not load after the upgrade and there was a need to program the preset from the start.

Does anybody know if this problem happens with 8-to-X upgrade as well?
And if yes, how to overcome it and avoid re-programming?

Thanks,
Dadi

IIRC there have been some major upgrades between 8 and X (CS80 V, Jupiter V and Mini V) - the presets are not compatible. However you can install these versions in parallel.
The only limitation I remember was, that the older plugins are not all Apple Silicon ready, if this is relevant for you. Maybe this was already in version 7. I’m not at my Mac at the moment…

So, I will need to have both v8 and X installed side by side?
Will I be able to do that on a fresh new machine?

This kind of thing is soooo boring!

What do you mean?

I mean situations where you use a plugin with a patch in a gig file and once upgraded it doesn’t work anymore because they don’t have the same patch on the newer version of the plugin and the states are not compatibles. So, it is boring when upgrades are not seamless.

But the plugins have a new major version number, right
I assume it was CS80 IV and now it is CS80 V, right?

I hate Arturia upgrades, But as pianopaul says, Arturia made new mayor versions to plugins. I recently update from V-7 to V-X so some plugins have new versions
for example:

  • CS-80 V3 to CS-80 V4
  • Jup-8 V3 to Jup-8 V4
    and so on

be sure to open legacy plugin for maximum compatibility with your presets.

Maybe saved presets can be shared.
