Are there any download mirrors?

I recently installed GP on my home desktop computer and I’m loving it. Right now I’m on the road with my laptop and I’m attempting to download it anew, but the download speed is so terrible that I can’t get it. The 12-hour download will progress for a few minutes and then abort, and if I resume the download it starts from the beginning. (If I had had time I would have installed it at home or at least brought the downloaded installer file with me, but sadly that wasn’t possible.)

I know that the internet in this hotel is pretty bad, but it is good enough that I’m managing to download a bunch of Native Instruments software with success. So I’m thinking it’s the GP download site that’s struggling.

Hence, my question: where can I find a mirror site for the GP downloads?

There are currently no mirrors. This must be on your end though.

Thanks, I think you must be correct, the problem is at my end.

That being said though, I wonder why Chrome is unable to resume a GP download? I suspect it has to do with some server-side configuration? Ordinarily if a download fails due to network problems, clicking “resume” allows it to start where it left off, but it seems that with GP, cliking “resume” causes it to restart from the beginning. Or maybe that problem is also at my end.

In the 21st century we’d lke to assume that everyone has good quality internet everywhere, but as touring musicians (and especially as a musician who spends most of my time on cruise ships struggling with the satellite internet), we know this is not the case.

But I’ve found a lovely cafe here in Santorini with slow but reliable wifi, and delicious espresso. Life is good.

In some parts of my country, even mobile phone doesn’t work…
Personally, I have an external hard drive that contains a double of everything I use live (plugins, sound banks,…), plus all the installation programs downloaded in case of problems (plugins, GP, …).
This allows a permanent autonomy from the internet, even in places supposed to have a good internet speed but which are not safe from a punctual disconnection (servers or sites in maintenance, problem of access provider, …).
From past experience, I always try to rely only on myself to limit the problems, but even this is not always enough to avoid trouble :smirk:
