Advice on setting up GP for guitar

Been using GP for a little while now. Play keys but also guitar on half a dozen or so songs with my band. Planning on switching to GP rather than my pedal board with a Fly Rig on a pedalboard. Forgot it it at my last gig and quickly created a rackspace using Overloud. Got me through the gig but I’d like to switch permanently to reduce gear to carry and add more versatility. Could never get rid of the initial clean tone so had to overwhelm it with a crunchy Marshall tone. Wondering if this was caused by the loop back feature in GP? If so how can I turn it off? Currently using a Motu M2 interface but need to isolate the guitar send from the keys for a separate channel on the PA. Upgrading to the M4 so I’ll have the extra out put. Need advice on routing within GP or any tips, tricks or other pearls of wisdom to help me get it all working. Can I hear from some dedicated guitarists or those who do this regularly?

Perhaps your MOTU is set up to mix the original signal of an input to the output (for low-latency monitoring in recording situations)? If I was a betting man, that’s what I’d bet on being the issue.
