Finally, Lounge Lizard EP-5 has shipped. So far, it sounds fantastic! New, separate modeling engines for Tines and Reeds, with 150 new v5 patches and all of the v4 patches remastered for v5. Resizable UI. The upgrade discount via the email I received was $49 vs $79 list. I had just purchased the new Dingwall SP1-4 and had my euro bank card on my brain and stupidly paid with it instead of my USD bank card. That’ll cost me extra. Sigh. But on the bright side? LL EP-5!!!
CAUTION: The installer for EP-5 removed the EP-4 folder with the original Presets subfolder, but left the v4 VST2 .DLL and VST3 .VST3 files in place. You may want to copy the EP-4 program folder to a backup location and then move it back to the AAS program folder after installing v5. Too late for me. But, I don’t gig live, so any issues will stay in the house and be resolved during replacement of v4 references with v5.
Damn, more money lol. At least it’s only £37, much cheaper than a lot of VST’s of this quality.
Looking at a few YT videos it seems more of a cosmetic update, but im sure it’s still worth it.
I love Lounge Lizard EP-4. However, EP-4 doesn’t have enough variety for me (e.g. phaser and chorus FX) and I have been using AIR Velvet to “round out” my rackspaces. Wondering if EP-5 has enough new sounds, FX, and features to merit the upgrade.
Looks like the upgrade is a great deal - only $49.
One thing unclear from the post above - it looks like the EP-4 and EP-5 plugins can both exist on the same computer - is that right? It’s just the presets folder that was removed?
When I installed v5 it didnt copy my v4 user library, but v4 is still installed and I could just copy them over.
Could this be a case of we aren’t losing them, they are just not in the correct folder for v5?
When I opened my Gig file that was using v4 it was still working and still had my user presets available.
I did copy the whole v4 folder first though, based on the first post in this thread.
In the Start Menu I have:
Applied Acoustic Systems → Lounge Lizard EP-4
Applied Acoustic Systems → Lounge Lizard EP-5
Plugins still exist for both versions.
Under C:\Program Files\Applied Acoustic Systems
Previous folder “VST Plug-ins” retained with VST2 Lounge Lizard EP-4.dll
New folders “Configuration” and “Lounge Lizard EP-5”
Under C:\Program Files (x86)\Applied Acoustic Systems
Previous folders “Lounge Lizard EP-4” and “VST Plug-ins” retained
New folders “AAS Installer” and “Configuration” created
Under C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST2
Lounge Lizard EP-5.dll added
They should at least have an option to retain EP4 with all presets so it continues function as it has before EP5 was installed. Maybe AAS will see this.
Due to this (thank you for posting, everyone), I do not want to upgrade. To me the likelihood of something getting botched (not to mention the time for checking (and less importantly the additioanl payment), makes me inclined not to pursue (similar to my decision not to install Sampletank 4, when blown out for $1.00)
