Hey, what midi keyboards are you using on stage (with smoke and pyros, in clubs and on festivals, sometimes it’s real hot in sunshine and sometimes it’s raining and at winters it’s freezing on tourbus back) with gig performer?
Now I have used Gig performer over a year on stage and it’s great, but problem is those keyboards. Used several years Akai’s VIP on stage with Akai Advance keyboard and that worked fine except that have to clean keyboard contacts while and while and finally all available picthbend and modulation pots were used… So advance and VIP came to their end.
Now I have used Gig Performer with Akai MPK 261 and newest NI Kontrol S61’n. But after 20 gigs NI have some poor contacts in keys and noticed that it’s almost impossible to cleaning them (so don’t open that NI keyboard, full of flat cables you can’t safely connect again 8) ) At same time old 90’s synths (like nordlead and Yamaha’s synths) have no problem with contacts on our gig’s and played few thousand gigs with them.
But what keys are you using with gig performer on stage and what can handle smoke and gig life?
Plus would have some feedback to keyboard screen and controllers to show what song preset is loaded and maybe pot positions. And endless rotation pots would starts to control at point where gig performer are (not jumping to some random value to start controlling). Using mainly volume and filters Controls on live situation, some different presets in song and all songs have own tempo sync presets… just a one synth, split keys and multilayers (with VIP it was easy to see song presets from Advance’s screen and pots positions without watching them from mac’s screen).
But great keyboard controllers which would stay Ok on stage? And would be great that also works with USB-C power without extra power feed
