If that solves the crackling issue, it might be worth it to give yourself some time to adjust. It might be one of those things where it bothers you at first, but after a while you don’t even notice the (slight) latency. (And be glad your not a pipe organist, hah!).
[I do find NARF can be cpu intensive.Here I Go Again was particularly so.]
There may be things you could do to reduce CPU.
Maybe you could reduce the polyphony in the plugins?
Maybe it is set to highest “quality”, when, in a live setting (as opposed to recording), you could use the lowest “quality” setting.
I am not sure whether NARF bypasses plugins and effects that are not used in a particular song part.You could look into that.
There might be other options to explore, but these are the ones I could think of off the top of my head.
