2 instances heat issue

Hi, GP coms…

Just a simple query, I guess..

I’m just looking in to 2nd instances and my question is the following.

I’m using a 2019 Intel MacBook Pro i9. 32GB RAM and 1TB ssd

From what I have read, a 2nd instance uses its own core, so, can I assume this will create less heat issues on an Intel machine?

In my present gig file, all in 1 insurance, using the most wildest Rackspace with 29 VSTs, the audio CPU load is about 40 - 50%. During the rest of the show, it’s around 7 - 25% so I take it, the machine is running comfortable the majority of the time yet after a 3 hour gig, the processor area just under the screen is “red” hot, even with an external fan.

Will a 2nd instance help in keeping this heat issue more under control?

Thanks in advance!

That’s not guaranteed - it’s up to the OS.

Hmmm, wonder if there’s dust buildup inside the ventilation areas of your laptop

Did you try resampling of demanding plugins?

I shouldn’t have thought so. It went through a complete service just before the summer season and this has been an “issue” from the very start. Hence the external fan.

Definitely. I sample every possible sound and use it within kontakt. If it’s some kind of “evolving” sound with arpeggiators and funky FX I use that synth vst.

Every other sound is via kontakt
