So, last night’s gig had an interesting start. There must have been an electrical surge about an hour before starting our show and our guitarist found his pedalboard burned out… He was left with absolutely no sound at all from his FX pedalboard.
No worries… A rapid mind, quick config change within GP and Overloud’s magic and in less than 10 minutes we had a fully functional guitar rig…
Well, fully functional, clean and distorted with delay… But it sounded absolutely awesome.
Basically, I use all 8 outs on my audio interface, so I merged outputs 7&8 with 5&6. So as to leave 7&8 free for our guitarist… No worries… Our FOH tech had to make do with that for just one evening…
I activated an extra input for the guitar and set up a rig in global so he can have clean and distort all night regardless of me changing rackspace..
I like more this version from Facebook, plus there are photos.

Had a lifesaver experience last night.
A power surge burned out our guitarist’s FX pedalboard. We had no guitarist, apparently…
I said to the band, “um, no problem”. I merged my 7/8 outputs to my 5/6 outputs so the
guitar could output his magic through my audio interface via the 7/8 outputs and I quickly activated instrument input 1, plugged his guitar there and loaded an Overloud guitar rig in global.
We configured it so he could play “clean” with a little saturation and delay and also a heavy distortion, whenever he needed, by doing whatever guitarists do on their guitar knobs.
Five minutes to set up a rig to save the evening!
He absolutely loved the sound we programmed in no time at all.
I’m no guitarist so I don’t know the tricks they have. He tried to explain how he did it just by turning a knob on the guitar… Something about changing pickups and gain but, as I say, I’m no expert on how guitar’s electronics work.
Ok. So the clean wasn’t absolutely clean. It still had a bit of saturation and delay but I actually liked the sound although the delay was always the same and didn’t sync with the song but we had to get by with what we had…
He’s actually considering the possibility of using GP next season due to the simplicity of the setup I explained he’d need.
