Unfortunately there is a big difference between “the information exists” (which of course it has to since the positions of widgets are remembered) and implementing a user interface to support more sophisticated layout options such as what you see in Illustrator or InDesign, both of which probably have had hundreds of developers involved.
We get the “eye-candy” appeal and I’m sure some of these things will get implemented over time but at the end of the day, when you get up on stage, is the position of a particular widget so much more important than having a glitch free “music” experience? That’s where choices and priorities come into play.
