Yes, it is one of the best vst ever.
I fixed the sound, which I use in my rackspaces, with Blue Cat’s Patchwork.

What exactly did you fix?
“Fixed” is my word for it, I host my preset of the OP-X Pro 3 in the Blue Cat’s Patchwork Vst. Until now, the preset has never changed, which was a known mistake in OP-X Pro 2.
I was also an issue of OP-X Pro 3, but with the help of @Dadi, Peter from Sonicprojects could fix it in the very last version of OP-X Pro 3.
I have noticed, but “never touch a running system”!
I would REALLY upgrade for the last OP-X Pro 3 !
What is the version? I have 1.03.
You have to install the 1.0.5
Beta? Okay, I try.
Korg Triton/triton extreme (like many suggested here)
AND/OR
Korg M1
Both of those have great, normal, playable, relatable sounds.
They are very light as well on resources.
They are stable, fast and reliable.
Try to avoid obscure and unknown plugins (stay away from free plugins) as they might not sit well with GP.
If you have to go with a sampler - go with Kontakt 6 OR Decent sampler.
Be aware of Kontakt 7 or 8. It has been known to crash GP.
I’m transitioning from Yamaha hardware…which I love. So far, I agree with the posters recommending Korg Triton/Extreme software. But I really miss Yamaha’s huge variety of quality sounds. I realize much is subjective but I’ve yet to find a really good Sax. And although it’s more natural for Sax it’s frustrating to have a 1/2 step pitch bend limitation.
NI is good and sampling is a viable option, but my general wish at this stage, is to drastically reduce the percentage of programming time in my life and to be more rested when hitting the stage!
The best Sax I know is from Audio Modeling
I use 4 (or so) different saxes.
Sensual Sax for Kenny G type sound
8Dio Spectralis Tenor for less sugary legato
Straight Ahead Samples Growlin’ Sax for growling sax
And a couple VG saxes (especially alto for 50s style) where legato is not as important.
I have SWAM, but I have not spent enough time with it.
I’m a big fan of the V series by AcousticSamples. Instantly playable without the need to load different articulations. Watch out for sales, these come on a regular basis; plus there are immediate discounts if one purchases more than one pack or bundle.
