Mac mini , need advice

96Khz for Live use!!! Why? That seems needless to me, and a bigger strain on the system for no gain.

48GB is the way to go if you can afford it. What screen will you use with it?

Because my Yamaha DM3 mixer works internally at 96 and while working with my singers at 96 the latency was better for them and was ok for my laptop. Of course, now that I want so many instruments things may change, but I don’t want to change unless it’s not possible

Oh, and I actually am not sure if a M4 will suffice or M4 pro would be needed. Thanks again

Sorry, I can’t edit my messages, probably because I’m new. Screen is a tough one. I was hoping to get by with a chinese copy, Arzopa or uPerfect something, but I can’t trust my whole show with a cheap piece of gear that might get defective so I will try to go with Lenovo M14t gen2, as I see that as better for reliability. It’s still debatable if I can get by with M4 simple or I need to go Pro, because the difference is pretty big price wise

Yeah, I was going to mention the Pro. For what it’s worth I went from an M1 Pro Mackbook, to an M4 Pro MacBook this year. Not a lot of difference really. I did go from the M1 to the M4 Air first, and to be honest, not a lot of difference there either. Memory will definitely be a factor, id go for more of that over the Pro if money is tight.

I see that “base” M4 Pro has 24GB ram. Would it suffice? Asking, cause I have absolute 0 experience with anything mac

I have the M4 Pro MacBook Pro with 24GB. I can max the memory out if I load 55 rackspaces. None are really complicated, no more than maybe 5 VST’s in each. I didnt notice any real difference when I had the 24GB Air with the standard M4.

CPU wise I dont worry at all, most racksapces average less than 20% CPU, but I think you may need more ram if you can afford it.

There are plenty of Mac experts on here that can help (will tell you to get as much ram as you can afford) more than me. I only switched to Mac in 2022 and although I work with them, only my home Mac has any music stuff on it and it works for me. the M1 is 16GB and I was struggling to get all my rackspaces loaded, so went for the 24GB. No way I could afford any more. So far it’s worked out well, although I do still keep the M1 going as a test machine (running OS26 beta on it).
