Intermittent latency issues

Dano,

Check out this thread:

There are a couple of other threads on this topic and I did a blog post.

Frank’s code saved me and at least one other person with a similar issue.

Please follow up.

Jeff

Are you on Windows Home or PRO? I accidentally set one up on Home once and had all kinds of problems. There is a lot of background processing that can’t be disabled. Upgraded that one to PRO and some of those problems went away.

I use both. Never noticed a real difference between these when it comes to being able to disable or enable services and alike.

For example With Pro you can access it using with Remote Desktop Protocol (although there are some quirks you need to workaround, for example getting MIDI working: are the devices used from the rdp-‘server’ or those from the client)

But I the benefits are not very important (to me)

I’ll do that, thanks!

Thanks, Jeff, I’m going to give this a try tonight. I’ll report back.

I’m old and I’ve slept since then. But I do seem to recall there was a lot more that needed to be disabled in Home and a lot that could not be enabled in Home. And even after all that, when online, it seemed Home was always talking for someone somewhere about something. And, when offline, it was constantly worried about not having internet. Pro didn’t exhibit those issues. Server seems to be even better at making sure real time processes have the resources needed to work properly. That’s probably overkill for this application.

I bought a Focusrite Scarlett and that fixed this issue. Thanks for all the feedback.

Yep, just as I suspected (here and here)
