The M4L device would be a huge workaround and steep learning curve to something which ideally should work without any headaches.
Don’t have the time now, but it will be in my to do list at some point.

The M4L device is a straight forward solution and not a huge workaround.
Ableton live is known for the big advantages you have in using such devices.
And when you think about what LINK is designed for it is logical that a tempo automation makes no sense when a participant of the LINK session changes the tempo.
Each technology needs a time to be for you to learn.
Maybe for you it isn’t, but it looks like you aren’t paying too much attention where am coming from.
You are using Ableton Live 12 Suite and therefore I thought you are familiar with M4L devices as the inbuilt devices are all built on the same technology.
There is no need to be trying to defend Gig Performer (it seems to me you are either a developer, or a ‘friend’ of a ‘friend’)

Discussion is irrelevant in ‘knowledge of the tools’ as the main purpose is how to efficiently use GP in what we are trying to do. And it looks like everybody has a different idea about it. What is intuitive and what isn’t we may also have extreme polarities.
There are a zillion Ableton things to learn always, right?
