Weird problem: VST3´s shown 6 times each, after plugin rescan

Hi there,

i post this in the Mac subforum, since i´m on a mac:
so i installed some plugins new for update purposes,
I started a GP instance, i pressed “rescan” plugins.
…then it took forever to scan. ( not the first time i have “this” happen ( taking long time) )
But now, do i have as far i can tell every VST3 plugin shown 6 times ! ( never had such bevore)

what can i do ? what should i do now ? ( tryed a new rescan)

to notes here:
i have a script (mac os based) running, where i can start all 8 different GP instances,
4x arm based / 4x intel based, from my title bar.
This problem is only with one of these GP instances. the one i just scanned the plugins new.
I´ve not scanned new on any other GP instance.

no problem with VST and AU. Only with VST3

Can you post a screenshot of the plugin Manager Window showing this entries?

yup, here we go. I just took 3 pics, not everything

Uploading: 6xVST3_2.png…

If you right-click on those and select “Open Containing Folder” - do they all have exactly the same path?

yes, same path

Can you copy and post some of those paths?
Edit: Is it for all VST3s or just ones from certain developers?

it s for all VST3s, all manufacturers.

path is:
library /Audio / Plug-ins / VST3

i´ve never changed there anything

How looks the finder window for this path?

I want to see the actual reference to each plugin, e.g.

/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/Applied Acoustics Systems/AAS Player.vst3
/Users/dhj/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/Abyss.vst3

wait, see point 3 !

i don´t know how to do this…?
well, what i can say is this. Its:

  1. my SSD / Library / Audio / plug-ins / VST / Applied Acoustics Systems / AAS player.vst3
( most plugins do not have a specific folder for the manufacturer)

if i go to user (my Name), then i have:
2. / Dokumente / …and then my folders and “my” files (but no plugin folders)

  1. OK, i think we have it ! wow
  • within the VST3 Folder, is another VST3 folder. It seems to contain just everything.
Same VST3 plugins. the whole list
  • within that second VST3 Folder is again another VST3 Folder. Same thing !
  • within that, another !
  • within that another, haha
  • now, guess what…
  • another…
  • another…
  • another…
  • another …
  • / ALL of these nested VST3 Folders do contain the whole VST3 list, i´d say.
  • i have right now opened a nested VST3 Folder hirarchy of 33 Folders,…!!!

GP seems to stop counting at 6, haha.
But i went up to 33, and i stop here
“feels” like it would just create a douplicated VST3 Folder, just by clicking on each VST3 Folder. …wow, thats strange !
I´ve not had that bevore i would say.
…all i changed today was to update some plugins, and install one demo ( audio realism bassline 3 )

you will get the idea after 2 screenshots, but i made 6
path is: my SSD / Library /
( i wanted to keep my privat Name out of the web )

Much appreciated btw. that you folks care !
Can´t thank you enough. A very unique forum, indeed.

Yes, that’s why I wanted to see the actual paths….I was pretty certain that you had the plugins duplicated.

so, i just delete the first duplicated/nested VST3 Folder ?
and also just rescan the plugins for the used GP4 instance ?
or is there any specific thing to watch here bevore doing so ?

do you have an idea how this “VST3 Folder duplication” could have happened ?
juts one of the plugin-updates, or the plugin demo, that i have installed ----> “could” have caused “that issue” ? is this thinkable ?
( cause i then know which ones would be in question )

I think you accidently made some copy&paste in the finder.
