As far as I understand it is not a plugin, but an external App.

I do have this.
While it is a standalone app, you can use it inside GP via virtual MIDI ports.
I wouldn’t say it is quite ready for live use. I am still working on ways to make it more applicable that way.

Could you please elaborate a bit more ? How is the latency ?

The latency is decent, but the MIDI generated from voice (or whistling in my case) is too ‘sloppy’ for live use and needs to be cleaned up in a MIDI editor. The pitch recognition can be erratic.

It might be better when used for beat creation (which wouldn’t require precise pitch recognition), but I haven’t tried to do that.

Would feeding your voice through pitch correction software first help?

I think the routing is such that the input signal needs to go through the Dubler 2 application first and then the MIDI signal is routed from there. So pitch correction would occur post-app, and that wouldn’t help. It has its own pitch correction and recognition—it’s just erratic at times.

You can see in their marketing that its being geared toward recording and such, where you can clean up the MIDI generated. I had hoped to apply it to a live environment, but as of yet I haven’t found a way to make it reliable enough.

Did you use their Mic or your own Mic? If it was your own Mic, did you calibrate it?

I used my own mics—a Shure Beta 58a and a Shure SM7B. The calibration process is just a level check and brief pitch matching of some tones.

Another reason why this wasn’t working for me is that my whistling range is greater than the range Dubler 2 allows for, so higher pitches were getting lowered an octave.

Ah — So, your issues are related to whistling rather than singing?

I was mostly using whistling, but even with singing or humming, sometimes the pitch would occasionally drift by one semitone and have a hard time resetting itself to the correct note. It’s a shame because the product is almost useable for live purposes with melodic phrases—but just not quite enough to provide reliable results.
