Trigger Samples and Sequences from Keyboard

I’m a complete novice, and while I’m an experienced live player and synth programmer, the whole GP concept has overwhelmed me- there is no way I can figure out much in the 2 week trial, there is just too much to it, and I don’t know where to start!

I have 2 basic needs I want to have GP cover for now. Sample playback in a defined order, triggered from a midi signal from one of my keyboards, automatically advancing to the next sample where I can trigger it when needed (sometimes one sample at a time, other times 2 samples need to overlap), and triggering a simple step sequencer to control another synth, along with simultaneous sample playback. Ideally, I’d like it do activate the sequencer from the same key press that would trigger a sample when it reaches that point in the list.
For example:
sample1
sample2
sample3/seq1
sample4
sample5/6 at the same time
sample 7
etc

I’m also interested (at some point) in having GP send the program changes- like when I change programs on the Stage, GP receives that signal and sends out the program change to the Wave, perhaps calls up VSTs that I might incorporate in the future, etc. I want to be able to send the program changes from the keyboard and be hands off on the computer during the show.

Any help in getting this done is super appreciated!

I’m currently doing the sample playback from my ipad with Go Button, which lets me trigger the samples in order using the lowest note on my Nord Stage 3. The Stage also sends program changes to my Wave 2. The sequencer part is the only drawback, and I don’t want to haul my Kronos or Fantom08 to do something I could do with GP. This is all for a Pink Floyd tribute, so the sound effect samples are an integral part of the show.

I’m running GP on a dedicated Windows box with 32gb ram and a 1tb ssd, connected to a Presonus Studio 24c interface.

There won’t a problem achieving those things. GP has built in audio players for your samples that can be set up to trigger from your various controllers. Sending out PC externally is also not a problem, as there are multiple ways to trigger that by changing songs, song parts, and even on the timeline of the streaming audio file player itself using markers and actions. And of course we haven’t even talked about the uber-powerful GP Script, which adds all kinds of additional conditional functionality to GP.

For what it’s worth, there are quite a few users in this community who are in PF tribute bands and so know all about ways to do this with GP.

In fact we recently did a theatrical version of The Wall with a Broadway cast and 30 children for “Another Brick”. Here’s a picture where the wall was built and the band (physically behind it) were being projected on to the wall before the singer came out.
