I’ve started using some NAM (Neural Amp Modeler) amp and pedal models recently and was wondering if it is possible to control which model I’m running with a widget. Since NAM is using captures, it would be nice to swap between different amp captures since I use Songs and Setlists primarily built off a couple different rackspaces. That way I don’t have to create a rackspace for each variation of an amp in NAM.
I also want to introduce some pedal/effects models and this use-case would be even more useful there. Is this possible?
A . The NAM plugin you’re using exposes the model parameter via host automation
or
B. The NAM plugin you’re using supports changing models via MIDI
Even if you can achieve this, you’re still better off using separate rackspaces for each model. That way you can take advantage of GP’s seamless switching with reverb/delay tails via Input Muting/Output fading.
NAM is all I use at this point. The gateway plug-in does not support preset (or file) changing. The only way you can do that with gateway is with GP user presets. You can use other plugins that support nam and also support preset changes. I recently discovered NAM universal 2. It’s also free. Once you get passed the annoying GUI (for me anyway), it is fantastic! It runs all the a through A2 captures at, highest quality and still manages to be using less CPU Gateway. There are also far more options to tweak your sounds, which I appreciate. And it also changes user presets via PC. It does it absolutely seamlessly and without any glitches. It’s quite impressive. I use other vsts further than the chain for delay and reverb so switching presets has no effect on them.
