Should I get an intel based mac for Gig performer?

I’ve heard that apple is discontinuing support for Intel based machines. Considering that I’m planning on downloading GP and then disconnecting the macbook from the internet and mostly not updating, should I be concerned about this? This won’t be my primary computer, it’ll be used exclusively as a synth engine.

The specific laptop I’m looking at is a refurbished 2020 macbook pro, 13.3 inch, i7 2.3GHz, 32GB ram, 512 GB SSD. I’m currently using my primary laptop (windows) for synth, but I want a dedicated machine.

Apple has ended support for Intel Macs.

The biggest question is wether or not the latest version of GP will run on your MacBook.

I am running GP on both an Intel based MacBook Pro and a Silicon iMac. Both are running Tahoe. What must be noted is that Tahoe is the last OS that will be supported for Intel Macs. The big question is when will newer versions of GP no longer support Tahoe/Intel? Since Tahoe is the latest MacOS, I can only speculate that GP will be supported for the foreseeable future.

That being stated, why not hold out for a refurbed Silicone MacBook?

We will continue to compile for both Intel and Apple Silicon as long as it is feasible,
That said, I will tell you that I am personally still running (refurbished) Intel Macs from 2018/19 with 10.14 on them - I have found no compelling reason to upgrade the OS

It will.
