I recently created a new setlist for an upcoming show, and to create it I duplicated my existing setlist which has been working perfectly for several months now. I then went through each song part in the new setlist and set the program change number. I hadn’t yet found the Reset Program Change Assignments function, so I assigned the PCs manually to each song part in the Song Part Properties. After finishing the PC assigning, I saved the gig file. I then tested the PC assignments by going through the program changes with my DoreMidi FC-3 footswitch which increases and decreases the PC numbers and it worked properly as it always has. Then I quit GP and restarted it. I checked the PC assignments in my new setlist and three of the song parts were missing their PC assignments. Two of the 3 songs with missing PC assignments had multiple song parts and the middle part for each song was missing its PC assignment. The third song with a missing PC assignment only had 1 song part. I manually assigned the missing PC numbers again, saved the gig file then restarted and the 3 missing PC numbers were still missing. I did some research, learned about the Reset Program Change Assignments function and ran it on my setlist. The missing PC numbers all filled in nicely so I saved the gig file, restarted and… the 3 PC numbers were missing again. To see if it was a specific PC number issue, I changed the PC that should have been numbered 8 to 22. Saved the gig file, restarted and… this time the PC number was retained, so it seems like some conflict with the PC numbers 8, 12 and 17. I wondered if my other setlist was causing the conflict so I ran the Reset Program Change Assignments function on it and saved the gig file and… the missing PCs in my new setlist were still missing. Anyone have any idea what could be causing these Song Part PC numbers to keep disappearing like this? Thanks!
Worked on the problem a bit more and could not find a solution with the existing setlist, so created a new one from scratch, added the songs in the correct order, assigned the program change messages using the Reset Program Change Assignments function, saved and restarted and the same issue occurred. Went to the rackspaces and used the Reset Program Change Assignments to Clear All Program Change Assignments and the rackspaces were now numbered in a very scrambled order. I then Reset Program Change numbers (all variations) and the rackspaces were now numbered in a ascending order. I then went to my setlist, cleared all the Program Change Assignments, then reset Program Changes Numbers (all song parts) and the song parts were now numbered in order. Instead of just saving and restarting, this time I saved the setlist as a separate gig file, re-opened that new gig file and presto, the program change numbers no longer disappeared from my setlist. That works for now but not sure why it kept removing the 3 PC numbers from my original setlist. There must be something underlying that was creating a conflict.
I can’t reproduce on Windows 11.
I manually assigned PC numbers.
Duplicated the Setlist.
Saved the gig file.
Load it again.
All is good.
Can you please post exact reproducible steps (step-by-step) where the issue occurs?
Hi npudar. After I got it working by creating a new Setlist I carried on, and I don’t think I’d know what steps to take to reproduce the problem because it just seemed to happen. I work in I.T. and my gut feeling says there was either something corrupted about the setlist file with the missing PC numbers, or there was a conflict of some kind that was preventing the PC numbers from sticking. I still have the original setlist that was acting up so I may go back to it and dig deeper. I’ll report back if I do. Thanks!
Appreciate your taking the time to report back
Hey dhj, yeah sorry for the long delay in replying, been busy getting ready for a gig this weekend
And the only thing I can add as far as reproducing the issue, was that it happened after duplicating a known-working setlist using the built-in “duplicate setlist” function. As per my original description above, I then “I assigned the PCs manually to each song part in the Song Part Properties. After finishing the PC assigning, I saved the gig file. I then tested the PC assignments by going through the program changes with my DoreMidi FC-3 footswitch which increases and decreases the PC numbers and it worked properly as it always has. Then I quit GP and restarted it. I checked the PC assignments in my new setlist and three of the song parts were missing their PC assignments.” That’s it. Again, my gut feeling initially was that there was maybe some conflict with the original setlist, like they were linked somehow. No idea how, but considering I solved the problem by creating a new gig file and then copying the songs over, maybe the gig file was corrupted? Just a theory at this point, no evidence ![]()
