Gig Performer’s setlist functionalities are by far the best I have seen in the performance software world. However, I’m curious how other customer manage their setlist and if they have the same desires as me.
In my personal use I always stumble across three things that encourage me to make suggestions for improvement:
A.
Add new songs after currently active song
Use case: Usually before soundcheck I compare my GP setlist with the latest printed version done by the singer and notice there are one or more songs missing at a certain position
- I add the songs („Add Song(s) to Setlist…“)
- I scroll to the end of the setlist and select one song
- While dragging the song I scroll back up and search for the position the song was missing at
- For each of the added songs, I repeat steps 2 and 3
I believe new songs should be added directly after the currently active song. This would greatly reduce the number of steps, clicks and scrolling, especially for last-minute changes on stage. Even those appreciating the current behavior would still be happy if they just selected the last song in the setlist before adding new songs.
B.
Allow dragging multiple songs at once
Use case: We choose to move the 80s block (4 songs) and the Ed Sheeran block (6 songs). Like above, I keep searching, dragging and scrolling for 10 times.
If I could highlight multiple songs („⌘ + click“ or the file selection „◎/◉“ known from iOS) and drag them together would greatly increase the efficiency of setlist management in Gig Performer.
C.
Allow adding same song more than once
Use case: In my region there is a certain short song played at least 10 times per gig. Other examples are breaks between the sets that each use the same songs containing a mutes rackspace and specific light settings.
Even though it’s the same song and rackspace I need to create 10 identical copies to position them in the setlist.
From a user perspective one cannot understand why I’m not allowed to add a song more than once to a setlist. The only function I can think of that could make problems is „GetSongIndex(songname : String)“ if the song name appears multiple times in a list. But even this is not an argument because it already exists for my current workaround of creating multiple song with the same name.
So what’s your opinion on this? Have you, too, ever come across similar things and thought they could be improved even further to keep up with those still using paper and a pen for their setlist?
