Much and not good experience with the software

I can’t understand how professional creators trust the software when performing in front of an audience.
In home use (from version 4.7 and a few good months in version 5.0.20) the software is completely unstable and behaves unpredictably.

  1. In many cases the software crashes when changing Rig
  2. Every time I install a new plugin and refresh via the “Plugin Manager”, I have to disable all VST2 and other Plugins that I already disabled before (Plugins that I don’t use)
  3. I work with a UAD - Firewire sound card and in many cases, the the inputs and outputs that I disabled are shown again, and need to be disabled again and again.+
Has anyone run into these issues

What’s going on with this software?

Thanks
Moshik

Hi @moshik ,

the issues you describe are for sure not the fault of Gig Performer.
There must be funky going on your system.
What windows version are you using?
Any chance you upload crash reports as soon as they happen?

The audio settings you can export and import again.
But normally the system remembers the state of the audio channels.

Maybe you have some permission issues on your system?

What windows version are you using?

When you talking about disable plugins, did you do that in Plugin Manager?

When you scan for new plugins?
Do you scan all plugins or only the new ones?

What you you mean by changing the Rig?

You are talking that you used this version some few months?

I’m using Gig Performer regularly since half a year. Only problems with the Roland Cloud and synths and that’s not an issue from Gig Performer.

I install often new plug ins, for testing and/or using. Why do you install the VST2 versions?

The rig manager is one of my weekly things, because I’m changing between Roland Fantom 7 ES as master and audio interface and a Stage 3 with an RME Interface. No problems!

We have customers performing in arena venues in front of 10-20,000 people. I’ve personally toured in the US, Canada, Europe and Japan with it since 2016 (I’m one of the developers) with up to 5,000 people myself. We have high profile Grammy award winning artists and well-known FOH engineers using it. And of course lots of

It should be obvious that if there was a fundamental problem with GP, we would be seeing hundreds if not thousands of complaints, not just ONE!

That’s clearly a permissions issue - sounds like your GP settings aren’t being saved properly and since the audio configuration is part of those settings, it’s a fair bet that that’s also permissions. Or you have some kind of AV that’s preventing GP from working properly.

For sure, there is a problem with your configuration - we can try and help you out but if your first assumption is to assume that GP is broken, then frankly we’re not going to get very far.

Silly post.

I am amazed, and grateful, what I can do with Gig Performer. On the infrequent occasions I have run into issues (I don’t think the issue has ever been GP, it’s usually been “user error”), I have posted here and received the help I needed. (Can’t help thanking Frank once again!).

During my last gig I had several technical issues, but none where because of Gig Performer. I would even state that Gig Performer is the most stable part.
What causes problems:

  • A faulty DI box (provided by a PA company)
  • A stupid mistake of myself by selecting a rackspace that is ‘silent’
  • Due to vibrations the laptop power connector switched off (and my battery checker app was not active)
  • Due to vibrations the USB cable lost connection for a very short while.

GP however performed very stable.
