I think that Midipipe might help solve my problem but I’m not finding much info on how it works. I have a morningstar MC8 that trying to send midi messages to three separate instances in GP. Vocals, Acoustic, then Electric. If I have four rack spaces and press the footswitch for rack space numbered three it changes all three instances to rack space three. Any advice?
Not without your telling us your problem!
here is my guess:
you can double click on a variation in instance 1 and assign a program change to it.
then go to instance 2 and set the same program change to another rackspace variation you want to be selected when instance 1 variation was selected.
repeat the process for all instances and all variations in your rackspaces.
then when you send a program change all instances will respond to that program change.
UNLESS:
you only want one instance to respond to program changes and the others not
in that case you can turn off the device/port in the settings for the instances you don’t want to receive program changes.
long story short
the separate instances will have (by default) program changes assigned to the first variation of each rackspace - and their order matters, meaning that if you switch the order the program changes (to which they respond) also changes.
the only way to avoid them changing program changes when you change their order is if you specifically assign your desired program changes to the variations in each instance.
hope this helps.
Thank you for the thoughtful reply. I will definitely try this out.
