MIDI Out (GP Plugin) - Can it be used all by itself?

Checking on best practices, and/or how to actually use the MIDI out plug in.
I am a hardware synth guy, slowly adding GP into the setup. Starting to use GP to receive a PC to go to a specific rack space, and then have that rack space send out PCs to other hardware so that everything is setup correctly for the specific song.
I have started putting a MIDI Out plugin, in the rack space to send out the PC to the correct hardware synth. But I don’t connect it to anything. Is this correct?
Even in a rack space where I use VSTs, I’ll have MIDI Out to change program on a hardware synth, and it is not connected to anything. I ask just to make sure this is a best use of the plugin, and because I see the MIDI (in) connection on that plugin, and wondered how that would be used. ( As I am not using that feature).

Yes, I do it the same way. Just the output block to send a MIDI PC

Edit: there’s an alternative if you use Songs. Just add a PC MIDI Message in the song part

I use the same trick to send SysEx messages out to hardware.

These days, it is better to use an Action to do this. Instead of three MIDI messages, you can just create a “Send External Program Change” action that optionally includes the bank switching values (CC 0 and CC32)
