Help needed for pc routing

I am redesigning my rig to accommodate a new (very old, but lovely) Yamaha KX88 midi controller keyboard.

Therefore I need to configure my set up to be controlled by pc messages on 2 different midi channels. My set up is for ‘on the fly’ changes, not set lists etc.

I have one rack space containing ivory piano, rhodes mk8 and hammond b3x vst3’s. I have various variations set up and can change these successfully and easily using pc message on midi channel 1. All good there.

On the global rack, I have synapse Dune3 synth, which I want to change sounds independently of my rack space using pc message on midi channel 2. However I cannot get Dune to change patches in Gig performer at all. Even if I pass through unused pc messages on channel 1 and get my wiring diagram to show program change activity hitting the plugin, still nothing. Any ideas anyone? Thank you

I guess that “Dune 3” just doesn’t react to incoming PC messages. Since it is used in the Global Rackspace (there only the one, and no variations), you won’t be able to react on incoming PC messages by switching to another rackspace (or variation) like it works with local rackspaces.
You have to rely on the ability of the used plugins in the global rackspaces that they “listen” and react to program changes… if they don’t, you’d have to go a diffrent way which most probably will involve some scripting and the use of GPPresets.

Thanks, according to synapse it does react but I can’t get it to. I wonder if a better workaround is to have say 16 instances of dune 3 in the global rack space, 16 radio buttons to choose one (via midi filter block note on) and use a script to convert a midi pc message for each button?

This would certainly work theoretically, but practically you’d most probably would have to bypass the unneeded instances for performance reasons. This could then cause note hangs or cut off sound if you’d bypass a plugin while it still plays a sound - so this would be something to be taken care of… (note on/off filtering, envelope follower for active audio check, and so on…).

Maybe an even better solution would be to use a second instance of Gig Performer which would hold all the “Dune 3” presets as local rackspaces. That way it would react exactly like the others (but on a dffrent channel i.e.)

My Mac book m3 pro seems to handle all the instances no problem, but I hadn’t thought of running 2 instances of GP, that’s interesting…Thank you
