GP on Windows 10 wont load/start

Windows 10 Pro Version 1703 build 15063.413

Fresh install of GP default settings

As far as I know, all runtimes are up to date.

The program attempts to start but never reaches a point where a window is invoked. Instead, it simply stops.

Audio devices is Radial USB DI via latest version of ASIO4all (2.14)

Any assistance would be much appreciated!

Two immediate possibilities come to mind?

  1. Are you running any anti-virus product that could be killing GP? (We’ve seen that once or twice before)

  2. It’s possible your download got corrupted - from where did you download?

Hi David,

Answers:

  1. No - it’s pretty much a fresh install of Win 10. I’d also imagine intrusions from anti-malware apps would provoke messages, not silent exceptions.

  2. I installed it on my Win7 laptop where it runs without problems.

I’ve tried re-installing, changing compatibility mode etc, but all that happens is Window’s equivalent of SPOD for maybe 10 secs, then nothing. It seems the process instantiates but crashes and dies.

Is there a switch to verbosely log Gig Performer during loading?

I’ll see if I can get a reasonable log from Process Monitor. Can you suggest filter syntax in Process Monitor to cherry pick events directly related to Gig Performer?

Thanks!

Does GP start if you disconnect your external audio devices?

@diggo — any update? If you disconnect your external audio device does GP start?

Hi David

I eventually managed to get GP to load. AFAIK it was via disconnecting the USB ASIO4all device, setting the onboard sound card as default (via ASIO4all), running GP, closing GP, activating the USB device, re-opening GP and selecting the USB ASIO4all device.

Now I have to figure out how to use GP, which is a nicer problem to have than figuring out why GP wouldnt open.

thanks!
