So apparently the loading of the Global rack space is not displayed in the loading dialog. I recently experienced a dramatic increase in loading time. Unfortunately, I didn’t really know this because I usually load my gig file before the show and walk away. But at the start of the show GP locked up, I won’t say crashed because it just became unresponsive so I killed the process and reloaded. The reload was way too long so I thought the gig file somehow got corrupted and started freaking out. I tried loading the most recent backup which was missing only a couple new rack spaces but of course one of those was the song we were going to lead off with.
Long story short, I discovered that the problem was in the global rackspace and after some trial and error it was revealed it was the Youlean loudness meter. I had added this after reading a thread on the forums about setting levels based on loudness. Well apparently the plugin saves some huge amount of data (probably some historical histogram) and this was causing both an extremely long save and load time.
Hmm interesting. I have youlean loudness meter (bypassed) in my global rackspace and my laptop did become completely unresponsive a couple of times after GP was loaded. This is something I haven’t seen before, so I’m wondering if it’s the same cause? Thanks for mentioning it!
After digging deeper there is a button on the plug-in that clears the stored data. Unfortunately it is not automated so what I did was save an empty GP preset and added code in the global rackspace (I already had a widget button to open/close it on my global rackspace) to load the preset on open and close so the plugin only has data while open.
There is an option in the plugin to not store the data but it not available in the free version.
