Hi everyone!
I’ve been using Gig Performer for several years now, for both small gigs and large productions and it’s always been extremely solid and reliable. It’s truly one of the best pieces of live software out there.
That said, there are a few things I’ve been wishing for:
More widget types. not just simple on/off switches, but toggle switches with different visual looks, and ideally an XY controller for expressive control.
Custom wallpapers, icons, and images inside rackspaces, for better visual organization and a more personal layout.
But the main thing I’d really love to see is a Song-level Multitrack Audio Player with multiple outs.
Right now, even though we can organize Rackspaces and Variations into Songs within Setlists, the Audio Player is still tied to an individual Rackspace. This means playback stops the moment you switch rackspaces, even when those rackspaces belong to the same Song.
It would be amazing if the Audio Player could instead be attached to the Song itself, so that audio playback (clicks, backing tracks, cues) continues seamlesly while switching between different rackspaces or variations within that song.
I know about Patch Persist/Plugin Persist, but when you’re running 15+ instrument plugins, that becomes too complex and, in my experience, not fully reliable. Having a multitrack Audio Player that stays active at the Song level would solve that beautifully.
Maybe I’m just getting older and less patient with complex workarounds. I just want things to work smoothly without juggling a dozen setups.
I’m a keyboard player, and for an upcoming Queen tribute show I’ll be running both click and tracks. For the first time, I’m actually looking at Steinberg VST Live for that reason but I’d much rather stick with Gig Performer if something like this becomes possible.
Thanks for listening, and for keeping Gig Performer such a great platform for live musicians!
