Duplicate keyboard controllers in setup

Greetings all,

I’m experienced with using Gig Performer 3 with multiple keyboards, but they were of completely different makes, so there was no problem differentiating them in GP.

In my current setup, however, I’m using (among other things) two identical Arturia KeyLab 61 Essentials and Gig Performer 4. The only way they differ is serial number, of which GP4 is unaware. GP4 identifies them by exactly the same name, save a “-1” on one of them - which one, I have no idea.

I suppose I might be answering my own question here, but is setting the MIDI channels to different channels and labelling the keyboards a viable solution? Or is there a better solution?

Thanks!

Hi @RavenslakeMusic

I think this is a job for Rig Manager.
You can give them separate aliases, and if ever your system swaps which one gets the “-1” then it’s a quick change in Rig Manager to link it to the correct alias.

Hi @RavenslakeMusic and welcome to the GP community forum.

Definitely, that’s the way to do it, cannot give a better advice. :+1:

Looks like they covered that use case - now off to implementing!

Thanks!

Indeed - handling duplicate controllers was the original reason for why we created the rig manager.

Welcome around @RavenslakeMusic to the GP forum! Just that…
